Full Planning Permission Granted Approval in Oxfordshire Green Belt

Updated: Nov 9

I am very pleased to report that Full Planning Approval has been granted to this new build 'barn conversion' development within the Oxford Green Belt. The dwelling, which would make for an extensive family residence in the idyllic countryside near Oxford, replaces a collection of improvised farm structures. The farmyard site is heavily constrained, within the curtilage of the grade II listed farmhouse, the village conservation area,

the Oxford Green Belt, and surrounded by neighbouring properties on three sides.

Out of deference to its farmyard setting, the dwelling is designed to appear as a traditional stone barn. The plan form is kept simple and rectilinear. Domestic features are avoided, such as dormer windows and chimney stacks. Openings are limited and designed to present as characteristic features of an agricultural building: loading doors, ventilation slits, and a glazed threshing door entrance and hall. The material palette is assembled to invoke agricultural buildings of the surrounding area with rubble coursed local limestone, a natural blue slate roof, oak left to silver naturally, and corrugated cement fibre cladding.
